Netflix Instant New Releases – October 2013

Netflix Instant has a lot of new releases this October. I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t see more Halloween themed movies make this list. There are still some wonderful movies included with movies like The Italian Job, Forrest Gump, and Ghostbusters making it. Let’s see the list.

Oct 1

Beyond Borders (2003) – Starring Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen. An epic tale of the turbulent romance between two star-crossed lovers set against the backdrop of the world’s most dangerous hot spots.

Body of Evidence (1993) – Starring Madonna.  A woman is accused of killing a man to inherit his millions by having sex with him.

Congo (1995) – Starring Laura Linney and Dylan Walks. When an expedition to the African Congo ends in disaster, a new team is assembled to find out what went wrong.

Forrest Gump (1994) – Starring Tom Hanks and Sally Field. Forrest Gump, while not intelligent, has accidentally been present at many historic moments, but his true love, Jenny Curran, eludes him.

Ghostbusters (1984) –  Starring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd - Three unemployed parapsychology professors set up shop as a unique ghost removal service.

The Great Train Robbery (1978) – Starring Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland. In Victorian England, a master criminal makes elaborate plans to steal a shipment of gold from a moving train.

The Hindenburg (1975) – Starring George C. Scott and Anne Bancroft. A film that chronicles the events of the Hindenburg disaster in which a zeppelin burst into flames.

The Italian Job (2003) – Starring Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron. After being betrayed and left for dead in Italy, Charlie Croker and his team plan an elaborate gold heist against their former ally.

Lock,  Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) – Starring Jason Flemyng and Dexter Fletcher. A botched card game in London triggers four friends to collide with each other in a series of unexpected events.

Mansfield Park (1999) – Starring Frances O’Connor and James Purefoy. The story of Fanny Price, whose mother, Mrs Price, married a relatively poor man for love and whose father cannot afford to support his large family.

Monica & David (2009) - Explores the marriage of a young couple with Down syndrome, and the family who strives to support their needs.

Pinocchio (2002) – Starring Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi. Despite guidance from the Blue Fairy and the love of his father, a wooden puppet’s curious spirit leads him into one wild adventure after another.

Resident Evil (2002) Starring Milla Jojovich. A special military unit fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.

Return to Me (2000) – Starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. A man who falls in love with the woman who received his wife’s heart must decide which woman it is who holds his heart.

Stolen Summer (2002) – Starring Aidan Quinn and Bonnie Hunt. A Catholic boy who befriends a terminally ill Jewish boy and tries to convert him so that he will make it to heaven.

Tadpole (2000) – Starring Aaron Stanford and Kate Mara. A 15-year-old boy, Oscar, who falls in love with his stepmother.

Timeline (2003) – Starring Paul Walker and Frances O’Connor. Archaeological students become trapped in the past when they go there to find their professor.

Tsotsi (2005) – Starring Presley Chweneyagae. Six days in the violent life of a young Johannesburg gang leader

Twilight (1998) – Starring Paul Newman. A retired ex-cop and private detective get mixed up in a murder.


Oct 14

Damages: Season 5 (2007)- Starring Glenn Close and Rose Byrne. A law school graduate becomes the protégée of a successful high-stakes litigator.

Russell Peters vs. The World (2013) - Starring Russell Peters. Documentary on the Notorious Stand-up comedy tour.

Notorious (2013) - Starring Russell Peters. Stand-up comedy series.

    I’d like to see the entire series of Judge Advocate General on Netflix. I’ve been asking for it from them for months and have gotten, surprisingly, nowhere.
