Apple TV users may sometimes see an error displayed that says “An error occurred loading this content” when trying to use Netflix Instant. This is a common error. We’ll help you solve it.
In most cases, this problem can be solved by simply restarting the Apple TV. Simply go to “Settings > General > Restart“, and Netflix should no longer show the error.
If this error appears regularly, you may want to try the following:
- Restart your wireless router equipment. You can usually do this by pressing a button on the back of the device or unplugging the device for about 10 seconds, then plugging it back in. If you’re unsure, consult the documentation provided with your equipment.
- Check to see if there are any software updates to your Apple TV. On most models, you can do this by going to “Settings > General > Software Update“.
- Ensure the Apple TV device is receiving a strong signal from your wireless router. Sometimes if the device is too close to the router and is connected wirelessly, it can cause connection problems. Consider connecting your Apple TV directly to your router using an Ethernet cable for best results.
- Set the DNS addresses on your router to use Google’s Public DNS. The addresses are 184.108.40.206 and 220.127.116.11.
