Have you tried to go shopping for a universal remote control that works with the Amazon Fire TV Stick? Has it been frustrating? You’re not the only one.
You can find plenty of universal remotes that work with the standard Amazon Fire TV. You may even be like me and bought one of the remotes that say they support the standard Fire TV thinking it will work. But there isn’t much out there for the Stick model. That’s because the Fire TV Stick doesn’t use infrared signals.
I just had to have a remote that works with all of my devices. After doing some digging, I found a solution. Though, I wasn’t happy with the price.
Option 1 – Logitech Harmony Express
This remote is currently the “Queen Mother” of remotes. It works with almost any device you can fathom and integrates well with Alexa. It’s my top option for a setup with the Fire TV Stick. It comes at a price though.
Option 2 – Logitech Harmony Companion
A cousin of the Logitech Harmony Express, then Harmony Companion has a lower price point and works just as well with the Fire TV Stick. This option also can turn your smartphone into a remote control.
Option 3 – Sideclick
So, this is an interesting solution! The Sideclick works with your existing Fire TV Stick remote to turn it into a universal remote that works with other devices.
Just clip it on, program it, and you’ll have additional buttons for additional devices. A major con is that you’ll need the original remote control to program the thing. But if you need additional functionality and love the stock Fire TV remote, this is the best solution.
