Windows
- Hold the Windows Key and press “R” to bring up the Windows Run dialog.
- Type “%userprofile%\appdata\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data” without quotes, then select “OK“.
- Delete the “WidevineCdm” folder.
- Type “chrome://components/” in the Chrome address bar, then press “Enter“.
- Find the “Widevine Content Decryption Module” and select “Check for update” button.
Mac
- Hold the “Option” key and select “Go“.
- Choose “Library“
- Navigate to “Application Support” > “Google” > “Chrome“.
- Delete the “WidevineCDM” folder.
- Bring up Chrome, and type “chrome://components“, then press “Enter“.
- Select the “Check for update” button under “WidevineCdm“.
Fix 3 – Uninstall Then Reinstall Chrome
If none of the above tricks solve this error for you, uninstalling then reinstalling Google Chrome will often fix it. Follow the steps for your operating system to uninstall Google Chrome. After it is fully uninstalled, download and install a fresh copy.
