Review: Lilyhammer

February 9, 2014 by Mitch Bartlett Leave a Comment

Lilyhammer

With all the talk about “House of Cards”, “Orange is the New Black”, and other Netflix original shows, “Lilyhammer” was one that slipped under the radar. It has gained a lot of buzz though, now in its third season.

Review: Winegard FL5500C Antenna

November 30, 2013 by Mitch Bartlett 1 Comment

If you’re a cable cutter, a good antenna is a must if you still want to enjoy over-the-air channels from broadcast networks. After cutting my cable a couple of years ago, I quickly realized it was a chore to watch local sports that were broadcast on stations like NBC, Fox and CBS. I have purchased many indoor antennas since cutting cable and haven’t gotten the results I expected. After listening to Dave Grohl on the Nerdist Podcast, I got a great feel for what he’s all about. Grohl is that creative guy any artist would like to be. His love of making music is unmatched. On the podcast, he was pitching a movie he directed called “Sound City”. The movie is about the Sound City recording studio in Los Angeles, California. A special place in Grohl’s heart where many classic rock albums were recorded, including Nirvana’s Nevermind. I love music history, and I watch the “Classic Albums” documentaries on Netflix religiously. I figured this documentary would be worth the $9.99 purchase. So I took a shot and bought it.

Netflix Instant Hidden Gems: Hot Rod

September 2, 2012 by Mitch Bartlett Leave a Comment

Hot RodWhen I saw the trailer for Hot Rod, I had no interest in it whatsoever. I kind of liked Andy Samberg from his “Lazy Sunday” digital short on SNL, but seeing him in a movie didn’t seem appealing. Especially one that seemed to rely only on physical comedy.
