Roku: Subtitles Don’t Display on Rakuten Viki

Users of the Rakuten Viki channel on the Roku seem to have problems getting their subtitles to display while watching content. This is a common problem on the Roku with many channels. It can usually be solved with these steps.

  1. Open the Viki channel and start watching a video.
  2. While the video is playing, press the asterisk (*) button on your remote. A menu will appear on the screen.
  3. Use the directional pad on the remote to navigate down and select “Caption track“, then select 2 of 2 (English).
  4. Select “Close” to exit the pop-up menu.

The subtitles should now be properly displayed in Viki on Roku.
